Life Is All About Correction and Change!

I’m loving the incoming feedback from my beta readers! They’ve discovered things I’ve overlooked or never would have considered. If I want to succeed, I must embrace correction so I can make the necessary changes. I’m learning it takes a community to write and publish a book—spouse, family, friends, and publishing professionals!

And, as I continue along the path toward getting my first novel out to the public, I’m very conscious that I only get one first impression, and I’ve got to make it the best one possible. However, I sometimes think the second impression should be more important than the first, because a person can fake and oversell to suck you in, leaving nothing left over to sustain a lasting relationship. To be safe, make the first impression strong AND genuine, with an eye toward making the second impression even stronger and more authentic.

I’ve put my ego in check as my beta readers’ responses come in. We can’t be afraid to make corrections or course adjustments, of any kind, in life. We’re not perfect. We will screw up and fall short of putting our best effort forward. That’s just life. Stay in a state of always fixing the things in your life that are weak, broken, or insufficient. Good and bad change is inevitable. How we manage it will determine our level of success and satisfaction in any effort.

Finally, always strive for your best, regardless of emotions, broken egos, or the extra time it takes to release the best we have in us. There are no shortcuts to winning. Just ask any prominent athlete!

“Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.” (Philippians 2:3-4 MSG)
