I’m so glad you found your way back! We’d better get moving before the tourists and food trucks invade our beach. And you made a good choice by bringing a bottle of chilled water. It’s gonna be a hot one! I recommend we begin by strolling with the wind at our backs. We’ll want that cool sea breeze smacking us in the face when we turn around. So, let’s go and get our feet wet!
Book One of the Golden Slide series, Champagne Waves and Sailing Ships, is progressing quite well through the publication process. When I know the release date, I’ll post it on this website first.
My third and last goal, which I’ll interweave throughout every book in the series, is related to a time period. No, all my books take place in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, present day. But I’m a product of the generation that began to come of age in the 1960s, and continued through the 1970s, with some even reaching the mid- to late 1980s. Therefore, I can’t avoid pulling things from those special decades and interjecting them into all my books.
Hopefully, when you recognize these things, many of you will be momentarily transported to your past. I can visualize you setting my book or e-reader on your lap, closing your eyes for a few moments, and smiling as you briefly reminisce about experiences you had then, now triggered by what you’ve just read.
I’ll reference music, including various bands and their songs, as well as current events, both positive and negative, movies, art, and even slang terms and sayings. I’ve enjoyed sharing these popular snippets from our younger years, and I hope they’ll entertain you as well. Perhaps reignite an old debate, such as which band was better: the clean-cut Beatles or the bad-boy Rolling Stones? Or, have any of you ever heard or used the phrase, “Suck it up, Buttercup!”? And finally, have you noticed I’ve teased you with a few references that harken to the past throughout these first three blogs?
So, my friend, there you have my three goals. When combined, they create a sweet sundae in a waffle cone filled with blooming romance and loaded with the flavor of a charming beachside town, all topped with sprinkles and syrup of nostalgia. Are you ready to taste the pages of my first book, Champagne Waves and Sailing Ships?
