I feel very blessed and fortunate to have spent most of my life surrounded by uplifting people who possess integrity, wisdom, and common sense. Their influence has significantly shaped the kind of man, husband, and father I strive to be. While I don’t see myself as perfect, and I do not expect to achieve perfection in this lifetime, I am grateful for my well-roundedness and the clarity I have in both my vision and execution of life—because of my closest acquaintances!
Your inner circle WILL make or break you. It’s essential to remove or avoid adding ANYONE—including family—who doesn’t bring value, peace, and prosperity to your life. Such individuals can have the opposite effect, becoming a barrier to you experiencing a life well lived. Additionally, if applicable, always keep your public ministry separate from your personal life.
Even in retirement, I remain extremely cautious about who I permit to get close to me. The negativity, temptations, and hassles aren’t worth it. Focus your time and energy on those who truly appreciate you and feel no shame when you reject someone who is not qualified to pull up a lounge chair in your inner circle!
And BTW, no inner circle is complete without the HOLY SPIRIT stretched out on the largest lounge chair of all!
“Become wise by walking with the wise;
hang out with fools and watch your life fall to pieces.” (Proverbs 13:20 MSG)
