The Power of Legacy!

As a 70-year-old man daily inching closer to the end of his life, I’ve put more thought into what kind of legacy I want to leave my children, grandchildren, and now a great-grandchild. And it’s not about being a best-selling author or some guy who left them a financial inheritance. No, it’s something money can’t buy.

It’s about me leaving them with the belief that they can pursue their dreams and accomplish them: IF THEY STICK TO IT, and always believe their best is yet to come! So, the kind of legacy I choose to leave to those who follow is one that has a greater impact on their spirit than on their wallet; on their sense of self-fulfillment in finding peace and the kind of gratification only God can deliver, and not the approval of this world.

And, selfishly, it’s about showing my progeny that old people still have value, wisdom, and insight to share with young people, helping them experience a better life than they could accomplish on their own. If only the older generations could pass on a praiseworthy legacy to their loved ones, their loved ones would flourish and hopefully pass on an even greater legacy to those who follow.

Blessings for a thousand generations!

“The life of mortals is like grass,
they flourish like a flower of the field;
the wind blows over it and it is gone,
and its place remembers it no more.
But from everlasting to everlasting
the Lord’s love is with those who fear him,
and his righteousness with their children’s children—
with those who keep his covenant
and remember to obey his precepts.” (Psalm 103:15-19 NIV)
